FEE SCHEDULE AND PAYMENT POLICIES,
effective until July 2008.
Pre-Adoption Services:
- Basic fee paid over the first six months of the process:
- Non-refundable application and
pre-adopt class fee $300 due upon submission
of the application.
- Homestudy fee $2,600$1,300 payable before
the first homestudy visit and $1,300 prior to the third visit. Services
included in this fee are the four visits by the social worker, and
a minimum of two notarized copies of the homestudy document.
- Adoption Services and Country Program Fee includes: BAAS paperwork and documentation assistance, CIS (Immigration) support, dossier preparation assistance (including all notary fees), consultation with overseas program coordinator, ongoing country program support, resource and referral, liaison agency coordination (including preparation of all country specific documents) if required. This fee is due before the homestudy is released.

Post Adoption Services:
- Basic Post-Placement Supervision: (Adopt
Abroad – IR3) $700 Includes two visits with your social worker and assistance with obtaining
a California registration of birth, Social Security card, U.S. passport
and certificate of citizenship.
- Inter-country Post-Placement Services (IR4)
$ 1,500 If the family needs to finalize the adoption in the U.S.
because you have received legal guardianship or if only one parent
(of a two parent couple) travels, this fee is paid after you come home
with your child and includes four visits with the social
worker and the court report. This fee includes assistance with court
report paperwork needed to finalize the adoption in the U.S. If more
than one child has been adopted, there will be an additional fee of
$500 per child.
- Re-Adoption Services $ 600 Includes two visits and preparation of the court report. This fee
also includes assistance with all paperwork needed to file with the
court.
Additional fees which may apply to specific adoption circumstances
- Older child class $200Required for families adopting a child aged 3 years or older
- Translator fee $400Extra time with the social worker and additional time spent
by staff to
process paperwork for Applicant(s) who are non-English speaking and
need to work with a translator
- Alumni adoption fee $1,800For a subsequent adoption (plus adoption services and program fee)
- Homestudy update $400Significant change in the previous homestudy/6 month old or
more/client initiated changes ($500, if home visit required, in the case of a new residence)
- Homestudy update $600CIS approval has expired
- Extra fee $100 for new binder If a family wishes to meet with a social
worker prior to starting the homestudy to explore family adoption,
medical, legal or other issues, a consultation fee of $300 will be
billed.
In addition, Applicant(s) will have further expenses, such as document
fees (to notarize, certify, authenticate, translate), fees to the overseas
program or liaison agency, CIS filing fee, CIS fingerprint fee, passport
and photos for family and child, express mail charges, phone charges,
and travel expenses for family (air and hotel). Also, certain countries
(i.e. Russia, China, and India) require additional post-placement visits,
and those extra post-placement visits will be billed at $300 per visit.
