1-15 months

1-6 months

Total time:  12 - 26 months; most families come home with a child between 14-23 months.

You have some choices along the way, which will impact how long the process takes.  If you are flexible about whether you will take a boy or a girl, or are willing to find a child in any country as opposed to a particular country, then the process will be closer to 12-14 months.  If you want a girl from a particular country, then the process can be much longer, from 18-26 months.

Usually the adoption program services fee is paid in two increments.

You should receive your I171H approval notice from CIS no later than 5 months after the date you do your FBI fingerprints.
