haiti

Bay Area Adoption Services is privileged to be working with reputable sources in Haiti to find permanent, loving homes for children who have been orphaned or abandoned.

TYPES OF CHILDREN

Children who are available for international adoption in Haiti have been orphaned or abandoned and need loving families and a stable, safe environment. Frequently, there will be little medical background or family history available. Children and sibling groups of all ages are in need of permanent homes

REQUIREMENTS

BAY AREA ADOPTION SERVICES

(BAAS) will assist families in all the necessary steps for completing a Haitian adoption. This includes: assisting with procedures, conducting the homestudy, providing mandatory educational classes on adoption, maintaining on-going collaboration with an experienced Haiti program liaison, as well as conducting post placement visits when you return home with your child.

TIME INVOLVED

Currently, most families will wait 2 to 6 months for a referral, once they are paperwork ready. The wait between referral and homecoming can be 11 to 18 months. There is less wait if couple can prove infertility. Parents must stay in Haiti for 5 days at end of the process for finalization.

FEES INVOLVED

(Note: there is no fee for the application and process through ICBF.)

  • BAAS fee: - ($5,000 - $ 5,600)
Includes registration, pre-adopt class, homestudy, paperwork assistance, CIS support, overseas program consultation, 3 post placement visits-scheduled at 30 days, six months and twelve months following placement, assistance in obtaining a California birth certificate for the child and all post-adoption paperwork. The higher fee applies if only one parent of a two parent couple travels.
  • Haiti adoption fee: ($15,000 approximately)
Includes state certification, authentication and translation of documents, Haiti government fees, orphanage donation fees, liaison program coordination fees, visa and passport fee.

Generally speaking, the entire cost of completing a Haitian adoption is approximately $24,000 to $27,000, excluding airfare and stay in country.

  • Please note that this information is subject to change without notice as changes occur in government/country regulations and/or adoption procedures. For the latest information, please call BAAS directly.
